Dereliction plagues harbor

Problems facing the Depoe Bay harbor include discarded equipment and piles of junk that have accumulated around the port. On the south side of the bay, above, old boat motors, tires and other detritus have grown into ugly piles at the water’s edge. DEPOE BAY – City officials Wednesday night began assessing the costs of neglect and disrepair in the city-owned harbor here, where a failed city policy, a stingy White House and the slow erosion of docks have become a threat to public and boater safety.
