Sewer line repair

Ryan Wiles of Central Coast Excavating works to repair a broken sewer line on NE Eighth Street in Newport Thursday morning. On June 4, the Newport City Council voted to increase water rates by 15 percent and sewer rates by 20 percent to fund replacement of the city’s aging water and sewer infrastructure. The new rates go into effect, Sunday, July 1.
